Description

The Poshan Abhiyaan, initiated in 2018 and implemented nationwide, aims to enhance nutritional outcomes for children aged 0-6 years, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. Launched in March 2018, this program employs technology, a targeted approach, and convergence strategies to address issues such as child stunting, malnutrition, low birth weight, with a particular focus on children, adolescent girls and pregnant women. The primary objective of the program is to ensure the delivery of services and interventions leveraging various technologies to achieve specific goals through convergence and behavioral change.

In accordance with the government decision dated 11/07/2018, the Poshan Abhiyan is implemented in all Anganwadi Centers across 553 projects in 36 districts of the state.

Details

As the primary objectives, the implementation of the Poshan Abhiyaan is ongoing in the state of Maharashtra. For achieving these objectives, there is convergence among various government departments. The convergence of various departments includes:
1. Rural Development Department
2. Public Health Department
3. Water Supply and Sanitation Department
4. Urban Development Department
5. Tribal Development Department
6. Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM)
7. Food and Drug Administration Department
8. Food Nutrition Board
9. National Rural Health Mission, etc.

Under the Poshan Abhiyaan, every woman and child is ensured entry into various essential services under continuous monitoring. Special attention is given to the first 
1000 days of a child's life, and multiple programs and schemes are monitored to ensure their effectiveness. This campaign aims to create community awareness through public movements.

Method

The implementation of the Poshan Abhiyaan ongoing in all districts of the state from the year 2018-19.
