All pregnant and lactating mothers and children aged 7 months to 6 years residing in Anganwadi areas under scheduled area.
Description
Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Amrut Aahar Yojana scheme is implemented through 14,322 Anganwadis in 111 projects across 16 districts in the state. Under this scheme, eligible pregnant and lactating mothers in these areas receive a daily nutritious meal at a cost of Rs. 45/-. In addition, under stage 2 of the scheme, children aged 7 months to 6 years are provided with a weekly supply of eggs at a cost of Rs. 6/- for 4 days.
Objective
1. To ensure the health of pregnant and lactating mothers in scheduled areas.
2. To reduce the incidence of low birth weight babies.
3. To eradicate malnutrition and reducing maternal and child mortality
4. To reduce the prevalence of anemia among women and children
Details
- Pregnant and lactating mothers are provided with a nutritious meal for 25 days in a month. For this, each beneficiary incurs an expense of Rs. 45/- per day. Previously, each beneficiary incurred an expense of Rs. 35/- per day.
- Children aged 7 months to 6 years receive meals for 16 days in a month, depending on the season. Each beneficiary incurs an expense of Rs. 6/- per day for this.
- Beneficiaries are receive food through local women's self help groups, or Anganwadi workers, as per the government resolution.
- The funds are transferred to the bank accounts of the Aahaar Committee through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Criteria
The methodology followed by Anganwadi Sevika is outlined as follows:
- Anganwadi Sevika register all pregnant women and lactating mothers in the Anganwadi area at the Anganwadi center to compile a comprehensive beneficiary list.
- Pregnant women and lactating mothers receive essential support, including the distribution of iron tablets and the provision of a complete nutritious meal.
- Anganwadi Sevika record the birth weight of newborns to monitor their health and growth.
- Procurement of Food Ingredients: Food ingredients required for the scheme are procured from the local market by the Anganwadi Sevika to ensure the availability of nutritious meals for the beneficiaries.
